It’s called Event Match Quality.

Most people don’t even know what that is. So let me explain what it is and how it works.

Every time you launch a new ad (any kind of ad)… you first have to select your “campaign goal.”

Which is either:

Sales, Leads, Engagement, Yadi Yada Yada.

The goal you select can also be referred to as an “Event.”

Now, whenever you get a sale or a new lead, etc., Meta uses that event to optimize your ads.

For instance, if a person buys a red shoe for $145 on your website, Meta tries to look for other people on their platform like that person and show them your ads.

The problem is that META doesn’t always accurately identify which of its users took that action.

It could be anyone. So your Event Match Quality is how closely Meta recognizes who took the action.

Usually represented over 10.

So you can have a match quality of 4.3/10, 6.7/10, etc.

The higher the first number, the better for you.

Ideally, you should have a match quality of at least… 9/10.

Anything lower than that means Meta has to resort to guessing which of their users took action.

Of course, you know what that means for you.

If Mrs. A. just bought from you but Meta thinks it’s Mr. B, then you’re screwed.

More of your ad budget is then channeled to people like Mr. B…

And that surmises how advertisers waste their money.
